Here Are Nine Pointed Questions About Your Leadership Potential

Leadership is a thing. It has real tangibility and stuff. People know it when they see it. But what exactly are they seeing? What exactly are you bringing when you bring your leadership into play? These nine points will help you discover what you have and what you may be missing.   


Be honest with yourself as you answer these questions. Your answers may be the beginning of becoming that leader you can become with the necessary work and dedication. 

Overview

Leadership is often discussed as a "verb." In other words, it is not a just "position." Meaning, that you have to "do" something in that position. The title alone does not make you a leader. You must do something with that leadership "position" or "power." Understanding the necessity of "doing" or action, next comes some questions.


  • What exactly do you do in your leadership position?
  • What are your responsibilities?
  • What exactly are the required skills for your leadership position?
  • What is the level of those leadership skills?
  • What is your leadership style? Do you have more than one style?
  • How do those leadership styles and skills match the team(s) you lead?
  • Are you producing or exceeding expected results?
  • Are you building cohesive, collaborating teams?
  • Are you deliberately develop the talent and leadership in your teams?

Do you have the confidence and abilities to create compelling visions for great successes produced by Inspired teams?

Problem Solving Leadership

Do you have the confidence and ability to solve challenging and perplexing problems and develop winning strategies to achieve highly desired objectives time and again? 

Driving Leadership

Do you have the confidence and ability to take charge and inspire your team to drive their best efforts to win big every day?

Relationship Leadership

Do you have the confidence and skills to bring your team together with strong team commitment and high performance? 

Communication Leadership

Do you have the confidence and skills to communicate powerful messages that build bonds of trust, loyalty, and innovation?

Decision Making Leadership

Do you have the confidence, insight, and skills to make the right decisions with the strength and knowledge to stand behind them.  

Strategic Leadership

Do you have the confidence and skills to work with anyone inside or outside your organization to create better win-win wins?

Team Leadership

Do you have the confidence and skills to effectively employ critical thinking tools and strategies to evaluate any situation and meet any challenge.

Leadership is not something that happens, except very rarely. Even then, it requires training, honing, direction, and accountability. 


The bad news is, whatever that "thing" is, only 5% of the CEOs in the Fortune 500 were rated as top leaders as appraised by those in their organizations. You see, you can make it to the top of the organization and still not have the stuff of genuine leadership. If you don't "have it," what do you do? Fake it till you make it? Studies show that it is a losing road for most people who take it.
